Here was the last job I just finished up.  Quite a few staircases throughout this particular house. I was working on bending and installing the wooden railings to fit on top of the iron work.

Looks great. Those are long pieces to bend. Did you build a steam chamber for these.  I would like to see what you used. Thanks.

Thanks!

No steam on these railings.  They are 7 strips laminated and are bent before the iron was installed.
Certain rails I do steam bend prior to gluing.

This is one example that needed the help of steam.  I steamed the pieces before, and then laminated them together after they sat in the form for a few days.

Geez, I got dizzy just looking at the photo [eek] [eek] [eek].  Really nice work though.. [big grin]

Very, very nice work there Sir. [thumbs up] [thumbs up]

Looks like your metal work guys new what they were doing too! (reference to my post about "handrailing: How hard can it be"  [big grin] )

Thanks for posting.

Amazing work!!!

I am always amazed how something like that is built on site with limited tools and space.

I also always wonder how in the world you price something like that out where it is profitable. You probably have a $1000 just in clamps.

Did you build the entire staircase or just the railing? I say 'just' but please don't take that the wrong way. The railing just might be the hardest part. It is all really beautiful.

Wing that is some fantastic work!
How long did you spend on those staircases?

Well done

Wing,

Forgetmy question above. I went to your website and your work, and portfolio, are amazing. BTW, we are practically neighbors. I am in Oakland Township but your work is worlds away from mine. When I get a chance I will stop by and and ask to see Wing79.

That is beautiful work.  The house looks amazing.  I'm always inspired when I work in environments such as this.

Thanks for the positive feedback!

Stop by anytime!

I built the entire staircase, from rough to finish (except the iron scrollwork).  I was at this home about 5 months but I was bouncing between 4 different staircases.  It was a great job for our company to get.  We also did all of the architectural Millwork throughout the home.  This house was approximately 23,000 sq. ft.

Here is another photo of one of the staircases in the basement.
