Floor Harp...to Sand by Hand or Sand by Rotex RO 90?

I'm building my first musical instrument, a walnut floor harp.  I've been dragging my feet because I'm tired of sanding it by hand.  A few weeks ago, at Connect I picked up a Rotex RO 90. Do I dare use it on the walnut harp?  If so, what abrasives and/or pads should I use?  When I look online at the abrasives, I don't even know where to start.  I'd like to buy a big variety pack to have on hand for various projects.  Usually of my projects aren't so delicate, most are furniture or cabinets.  Any suggestions?  I'll attach a few pictures of the harp.

Very nice looking piece Carrie.

Explain why you're sanding it. Lining up joints/finish prep? What finish also.

You can sand it with the RO 90.

The flat areas use the hard pad, shaped areas hard pad with interface pads. I've stack up to 4 pads.

The delta pad will allow access to tight areas

Being walnut I would not use grit lower than 150.

I'm a gear drive mode only guy, finish up with the orbit mode.

Make sure you dust the piece off when you change to a finer grit.

Get 150, 180, 220, 240, 320 grit paper.

Justin is in Mishawaka if you need a local dealer. Von Tobel Lumber (Valpo, Michigan City) does not have a very good inventory.

One of those place you'd have no clue what it hid inside.

Carrie, if you do contact Justin let him know I told you to call him.

Thanks Tom and congrats on the new grand-babies!  There are a few areas that need rounded, a bit of lining up here and there, a few spots of glue, and overall prep.  Tung oil to finish it off.

The harp was a kit from Stony End Harps and was given to me by a friend that used to build them.  You've been to Ken's shop?  What was he doing with laminate?

I believe he was referring to being in Justin's shop. Part of the shop is for counter top fabrication.

Thank you. Someday they may name them.

The RO 90 will work well. The areas that need to be rounded is where you should use the interface pads.

Once you go over the piece with the 90, spend some time hand sanding it with the grain.

If you need paper right away I can see what I have in stock. I know I have at least 4 interface pads.

It was the Michawaka (Justin's ??) shop, I did not go by the other shop.

I have a bunch in front of me on desk (and the floor) that I am thinking of using inside of something.
Formica 9490-90, and Formica 9491-90 in particular.

Thanks Tom, I was so confused....

I'm not in any rush for the abrasives, but thanks.  I'll place an order.  I'm actually working on making a bench and want to finish it before I get back to the harp.  I'm converting an old twin bed to a bench with storage.  I'll attach another picture.[attachimg=1]

Wow! Great looking harp! The 90 is a great tool. I have found Granat to be the best all around sandpaper from 40 grit to 400. Love the bed project.

I use granat or Rubin 2 depending on which one is available in a 25 pack in whatever grit I want (you'd think they'd offer a 10, 25, 50, and 100 in every grit/style, but not so...).

Very Nice work Carrie,

I am with them on this you can sand with the RO 90 and definitely use a interact pad.

I (depending on project) go over it hand sanding as well.

I recommend picking up a few of the foam backed sanding pads to do final/ hand sanding. They come in various grits. Id use the 400 or finer if it was me.
