forget Kapex go Miter Mate

You know some poor sucker is going to think that is the best idea ever, buy one and use it like 5 times.

I really like his wall he built. [scared]

Oh yeah, an opportunity to bash the overpriced, overhyped, problematic Kapex.  [big grin] I'm always amazed that Festool still manages to sell that piece of junk at the price point considering the repeat problems posted here. Man I love my huge, heavy, underpriced, underappreciated, works great, too heavy to steal Bosch compound.
Ok, enough.
I have to say I am impressed with the extent of thought that went into producing a tool for the unskilled DIY. On the other hand the saw seems highly dangerous. I'm envisioning DIY A holding the two pieces of trim up against each other while DIY B engages the saw. I wonder if you can hook up a Sawstop to it, should be mandatory.
I'm guessing accuracy isn't so good. For $199 though it will get bought and end up in the back of the garage soon.

I am glad I don't have to even look at my bosch any more.

Now that little craftsman woul sail out a window.
Maybe I will buy one just to try it. [scratch chin]

Actually, Festool make something very similar to this machine - the SYM70E Symmetric mitre saw. The reason most members haven't heard of it is because it's one of these NAINA (Not Available in North America) tools...

Sorry about the Italian soundtrack!

Insane! His fingers are inches from the blade. That is a recipe for disaster. Why not clamp the piece down in the video? It's supposed to be a demonstration video after all.

Richard.

I have had the Symmetric for a good few years.  If I can get away with it I take it to site instead of the Kapex as it is much lighter to haul around.  I believe it was someone elses design that Festool took over.  Works very well for small trim work, but in the US with your big crown mouldings etc, it might have limited use.

[scratch chin] [scratch chin] [poke] [jawdrop]

Pure comic genius.

Those are the same people that call you to fix something they screwed up and get mad when you give them the price.

Cheap bastads.
