Hi all,

First time post after lurking for a while. I've seen a lot of posts regarding making your own MFT type top etc. but little reference to the type of MDF people are using. As someone who has been involved with the CNC world for about a decade, I've come to always use formaldehyde free MDF to reduce the toxins being emitted when cutting or sanding it. Since I cut into my MFT doing various projects I thought it might be useful to chat about given that I assume most others do as well, so I'm building my own MFT add on tables out of the formaldehyde free variant. Is anyone else doing this as well?

I'd be curious to hear which brand you end up using.  I switched over to all low or no-added formaldehyde sheet good a number of years ago.  I don't use much MDF, but might start if you can recommend a good brand.

I have a formaldehyde allergy (long story), but it is near impossible to find any consumer products without formaldehyde.  I have never thought about MDF (haven't used the stuff much).  I too would be interested in recommendations as I am planning on building an MFT style outfeed table for my table saw at some point.

We sell a brand at work, medex, it's about double the price of regular mdf.  Google it and see who sells it in your area. We are a laminate shop and it is spec'd for some jobs.  If you can't find it check with the specialty shops in your area
