I've been recently fortunate to buy a 2nd hand Format-4 H08 CNC. It's about 7 years old. The previous owners went into liquidation so I can't contact them. Felder Tech support (in person) is more than a month away.
it should be an incredible machine if I can get it working. Currently though it's a 2.5 tonne paperweight.
Due to it being a 2nd hand machine, the Windows 7 machine and WoodFlash software installed has been set up to suit whoever the previous operator was, and of course the machine did not come with any in-person training. A few small non-critical parts were broken in transit (since repaired and replaced). But I can't seem to get the machine running properly.
I need to run warm-up cycles on the spindles and such (as it had been turned off for about a year), and overcome a lot of system errors from its transit (re-zeroing the xyz axis position, etc.). I seem stuck in 'operator' login within the WoodFlash software, so don't have the rights (in the way the manuals describe) to run sections of the machine directly as described in the accompanying instruction manuals. So I know I need higher levels of software rights within the WoodFlash software, and none of the pdf & printed manuals don't describe enough info (and don't want to have to rely purely on a physical tech support, who are more than a month away).
I've run and serviced far less sophisticated CNC machines in the past. Physically things check out with this CNC, from what I can see with a pretty through review and clean. But the software isn't seeing it or not communicating properly with the machine, or I'm not interacting with the software fully somehow.
I mistakingly thought there would be more online videos / forums / threads / support online for the users of these particular brand of CNCs, but I was wrong.
The 'Felder Owners Group' forum from 8 years ago listed through here, seems long gone unfortunately.
Can someone direct me to online resources (other than the main Felder-Group website which redirects all my enquiries through to my home country distributors, which are weeks away from being able to help). Or do you know someone experienced on using WoodFlash software, and that I could potential pay to do a zoom call with or similar?
It really feels like what I need to do is a 'simple fix' within the software, to reset the axis, etc. But I can't track down what that fix might be.
