I am hoping folks will share woodworking project ideas for a decorative suspended light enclosure.  I want to build something to illuminate a game table.

One such idea is a Frank Lloyd Wright pendant;

I intend to use a DIY LED kit from a place like http://www.rapidled.com and want to gussy it up for a living space.  Interestingly enough, I am finding a lot of good lighting ideas from Youtube videos about growing weed.  In an unadroned state, these fail the wife acceptance test for some reason.

Here is an interesting workspace lighting idea workspace lighting idea.

Interesting with the LED strips. I just was looking at these with a Shoji style.
So paper instead of glass.

One could also use metal if they wanted.

Are there a variety of boards / games?

Yes, we have many types of tabletop games ; cards, board, miniatures.  The table is just an unadorned counter height table.

A manufacturer named Yuji makes LEDs in ribbon and single emitter form-factors with remarkably high color rendering.  I plan to order some from them.  http://store.yujiintl.com/

I was thinking of downlight only with opaque sides but I can imagine Shoji style looking good.  Getting an ambient sideglow from LEDs might be a challenge since they are so directional.  Each LED is kind of like a tiny 120 degree flood light.

The museum lights that are like a small projector one far wall are effective.
