Gas Station Snacks

A question...what is a roach-clip?

On another issue, when parking anywhere, I've always parked the furthest distance away from the store to preserve the health and well being of my vehicles. But for some reason there is always the owner of a Honda, Suburau or Toyota that feels the need to park within 2-3 feet of me...why is that? What is with those folks and what is the itch they need to scratch?
Oh, yeah, drives me nuts!!! Don't get me started .................. too late. 🤐

I too tend to park far away in an open space. I actually find it more convenient ........................ no maneuvering into the spot, further from the store means fewer pedestrians to run down, fewer other cars driving around in my way, etc. Plus, for what ever reason, I seem to be able to walk across a 1/4 mile of parking lot faster than most people get out of their cars!

I really don't get the park next another vehicle when there is no need thing. Makes it harder to open doors, harder to park and pull out, and if I parked waaaay out here I probably did it for a reason you moron! 😡

Even if not far out in the lot I try to leave multiple spaces on both sides. Then sure enough someone pulls into the spot next to me. There have been times when this happens that I am still in my truck and I start up and move.

Like I said "drives me nuts" !!

Oh snacks ............................ hot dogs, meat sticks, peanut butter crackers.

2. Same here only in this case, they park on BOTH sides of me while the rest of the lot is empty...3 automobiles in a nice tight grouping. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

@Cheese and @semenza maybe you guys should try straddling the line. In the remote area of the lot who cares if you’re conforming to the designated spaces? Would be interesting to see if the “close parkers” conform to the lines or your proximity.

Sorta related to the “close parkers”, in my house my wife does the cooking and I do the shopping. In the grocery store aisles I’m frequently bugged by the “close parkers” who park their cart directly opposite the freestanding display (that partially blocks the aisle) with the result that the aisle is completely blocked.

On snacks - I tend to just get peanut butter crackers. Try to stay away from the sugary candies.

On ag equipment and 'eye candy' - tractors are in the $300-$1MM range now depending on horsepower and options. Full autonomy is available starting this year for an additional 150-200K. Drive the machine to the field, get off it and start it and monitor remotely with your smartphone. If's preprogrammed with depth, field boundaries and cameras for avoidance of wet spots or other hazards.

Combines are in the $1M to 1.5M range. All the equipment is satellite enabled to less than 1" accuracy for movement. Autosteer, auto turns, auto depth control on equipment, etc. Sprayers have sensors and cameras that only spray the weeds. Massaging seats, AC, Heat, Refrigerators. Long hours bring comfort.

The challenge is repairs. Deere and Case/IH now have removed the right for farmers to have access to their diagnostic tools used for the tractors. You might get a diagnostic code on the display but can't get the tools to trace it down. There is talk of legislation to enable 'right to repair' given the costs. An extended warranty can cost up to $40-50K a year on these machines!

Service crews now tend to have a mechanic and a tech specialist given the complexity. Deere I know is offering 'agtech' training in trade schools now as there is a shortage of skilled workers.

We have a row crop farm that is leased out. Incredible the equipment they are using and the complexity of it.
Yes, SO DIFFERENT than the brief times in the past when I was tied to a small Farm. The Boarding School that I went to for grades 9-12 outside of Philly had always had a working Farm as part of the school. They HAD recently dropped the Dairy Farm portion before I enrolled in 1978 due to not wanting to meet the Pasteurization Costs of the Milk that officials insisted on .[ Should have held out for RFK Jr..😂😂😂] ..
But, still had the Pigs and Fields that grew feed for the Pigs. So, after Lunch, every student was somewhere in the Farm area or the school doing chores.
9th and 10th grade was pure Farm work, mowing grass, shovel pig manure, picking up in the fields for what the Combine missed, and other chores. 11th grade was Paint Squad, 3 of us continuously painting the School. Latex Paint was still pretty new to the School.... :giggle: :giggle: , so lots of Oil Based Paint if painting metal was involved.
12th grade was assisting the Guy in charge of School Maintenance.
I learned to Double Clutch Ford Farm Trucks, never got to drive a tractor though. For 'Fun' we pulled into the pig feeding sections of a Barn with the Truck Lights off and hopped out quickly to pitchfork any of the huge rats that were running from the Truck being pulled in. Years later that's all gone, the Farm Land was too valuable not to sell, and they'd been losing money on the Farm Operations for years, so it had to go. 😢😢

One of the best tasting foods I have ever had was a pound cake made by a local bakery at a convenience store outside Petersburg, Va on a long trip --- really wish I'd kept the wrapper/made note of the company --- keep telling myself that the next time I'm passing through that way I'll make a point of stopping at convenience stores and trying different brands until I rediscover it....

I knew someone would say something about the roach clip thing. It's probably an archaic term by now, but everyone of a certain age knows ;)

A question...what is Mary-Jane?

Sounds like a cleaning service. :ROFLMAO:
She goes by many names

The parking thing has been a sore spot for me, for literal decades.
My first experience was in the driveway of my childhood home. An idiot friend of my brother, gave me the first door ding, less than a month after a very custom paintjob. It changed me for life. I have parked as far away from anyone as I can, ever since. (1982)
My brand-new 2014 Camaro, still with temp tags on it, was hit in a restaurant lot, by a bunch of college kids. A backseat passenger didn't pay any mind to it. The driver didn't even know it happened, but he was the one who parked so close. It took almost an hour for them to come back to the car, while I waited the whole time. The police never did show up.
It happens so often that I take pictures of it. That's why I walked up to this lady, in the first place. I was way out in the lot, over 200 feet from anything else. I had walked about 300 feet away and back, for something I had forgotten. It was just moments, and there she was? Why?
I haven't bothered to send them to my computer, but I have at least 5-6 pics in my phone.
I found one easily, it was just last October. This was a trailhead lot, I was the only one there. When I got back, here was this guy, the only other one there. Not only in the next space, but way off center.

Woah. And I thought military school was bad!

I'm from an age when people used to wear them as accessories...

*Hey Festool, we need a break dancing emoji!

The Farm work was just afternoons after Lunch, unlike a real life Farm where it's never ending....We didn't have to do it on the Weekends. Plus, being hundreds and hundreds of miles away from my Home, much like so many other of my Classmates allowed me to stay out of the eyes of my Parents and get away with stuff I could have never pulled off at home.... :giggle: :giggle:
