Gecko clamps

I am looking for some feedback with the Gecko clamps
Do the woodworkers out there find them to be useful in wood working applications?
What benefit do solid surface contractors find using them?

Gecko clamps are a cool idea but I haven't used mine yet after owning it for a year, mainly because it doesn't work with wood.

If I had a similar device that worked with an actual vacuum pump (so it could hold onto wood) I would have used it.

I have a pair with the guide rail attachment.

Ideal for any nonporous surface.

Such as laminate counter tops, solid surface etc.

I install mirrors with them and have used them to cut a wall (laminate covered vertically.)

i too have a pair of them

useful for large panes of glass in window refurbishment and mirrors

they dont get as much use as i expected

Me too. I have a pair attached to short guide rail and I use them to hold it in place on white melamine particle core board. If you wipe the board free from dust and really pres don on them when clamping, they will hold just long enough to make the cut...and are useful. But they clearly do not have sufficient hold for anything else with the melamine stuff.
