Hi
I’m feeling I deserve a few more Festool items. Does anyone have input on the Gecko set? Do you use it? Would you recommend it? Sometimes I find clamping a rail a little clumsy and thought it might be useful? Do you often lift sheet goods with it? Any helpful comments good for bad would be appreciated

Works nicely for glass and on HPL surfaces / sheet goods.
Can leave a mark that needs some soap/solvent to clean off.
Forget it for any surface that is porose.

TL;DR: I used them seldom but when I needed them I was happy to have them.

If you must use the Gecko set on porous surface, apply masking tape to the surface then the Gecko.

They are great for cutting plastics, also are great for enlarging countertop stove renos.

By porous do you mean it wouldn’t grip Baltic birch plywood enough to hold the rail in place?

It would be a race against time if it held at all. You could try to lay down a strip of relativity low tack adhesive film like carpet protection plastic. That should work hold against lateral torque. It does hold pretty well on pre-finished material.

I have 2 Geckos that I have been using for a good few years now.
They are used on smooth, pre finished material (MFC, laminated panels, laminate worktops, Corian solid surface etc)

I have never found a successful way of using them on any kind of unfinished Plywood, MDF, or solid timber that I would trust for accurate cutting.

I’m so grateful for the FOG and for the members sharing their distinctions and knowledge. I sincerely appreciate all of your comments
