I'm planning to get the Planex system (Planex and CT 36 AC) before the price increase. I'd appreciate users chipping in to tell me what else you recommend I get with it.

Here's what I think after reading alot of Planex info on here:

Planex and 36 AC

Sandpaper - Granat 40, 80, 120, 180, 240, 320 ???  (I'll be doing regular new drywall, textured ceilings - painted and unpainted, "sanded" paint on the walls, overall a good variety but mostly new work).

What do you think of the dust extractor mount?

Bags - just a set of the plastic disposable liners since I plan to dedicate this vac to the Planex. How quickly will I go thru 5?

Planex Pad Set - 496106 - this appears to be the way to get the right combination of soft/interface pads to do bumpy ceilings or fine work. Yes?

TIA for your help.

I think you have it down pretty good, Ron.

I don't use the mount but it would be handy and before long, I might add it.

The harness is quite handy for ceilings and high on walls.

Depending on how high you're going, you might want another extension or more.

I'd probably go 60, 180, and 240 for paper. With that combo you should be able to tackle just about anything.
Rather than the mount I'd get the blast gate, it helps a lot.
You can reuse the liners several times over so one pack will last a while unless you want the convenience of just pulling them and throwing them, then i'd budget for one liner per large job.
The pad set is a must.
If you plan on taking down any amount of textured ceiling greater than about 500sqft get the harness.
If your doing a lot of work thats over 10' get a second extension.
Have fun, the planex is awesome

The Planex comes with one sheet of 120.  I'm not sure if that's a hint at what's normal or what.  I bought some extra grits while it was on sale in February but I haven't gotten to use it yet.

I would say 120 would be one of the useless grits, to course for sanding drywall compound and to fine for taking down textures.

Have to agree with this 100%. I also bought the mount. For the price, I would skip it.

I agree with Saskataper, you should not need that many grits. I would just try a few as he stated, you can always add more later. The price is coming down $4 on the granat paper for the planex next month. You will enjoy the sander.

This is very helpful. I meant to ask about the blast gate but forgot. What are the uses/advantages?

When you close it before the auto clean it cleans the filter better. You can also close it for transport to prevent dust escape.
