I never learned the principles of compound angle calculation, and have relied mostly on ready-made charts, approximation or trial and error up to this point.  But I'm planning on building a stool that would require the legs to be compound mitered at the top where they meet the seat, as they will have be angled out around 10 degrees on both the x and the y axis.

Does anyone know of a good online resource for calculating compound miters/angles?

The Festool Kapex Supplemental Manual has a built-in calculator. However, for the OP, none of these compound angle calculators will directly suit his needs without some interpretation. That's because they are all created based on the common task of installing sloped objects in a mitered fashion. He is cutting the end of a leg. So it will require some interpretation to utilize the standard numbers.
