Its probably a mistake but festoolproducts.com has an abrasives finder and when you specify drywall sanding, it recommends granat abrasives.  I've always used 220 brilliant and it has always worked for me.

Has anyone tried using granat on drywall?

Brilliant is fine for drywall sanding, but Granat is a better abrasive and will not clog as easily, as well as keeping it's cut longer.

I find a new Granat paper a little sharp for drywall compound. A worn Granat is less aggressive.

Clogging with dry drywall compound is not an issue at all. Wet/damp compound will build on any of the discs.

220 brillant has always worked perfect for me, by hand or with a sander.

It's worth noting that the abrasives finder on festoolproducts.com is a modified version of the one you can find at the top of this page under Product Websites > Abrasives Selector. They've just added the link so you put what you want directly in your cart, so the recommendations you get from the finder are the "official" (?) Festool recommendations.

I think it's the best type of paper for drywall. Brilliant is also good, Granat and Brilliant are very alike under most circumstances. I've only found that Granat paper doesn't clog as fast as Brilliant when doing drywall, it can last 3 times as long. When used on other materials I find it very hard to find any difference between both types of paper, but on drywall or plaster Granat is definitely the first one I reach for.
