The Christmas Canoe

This is an (ostensibly) Children's story written by Shelly Posen and illustrated by Magdalene Carson. The setting is a lumber camp in the vicinity of the Ottawa River in the late 1800s.

Last week, I discovered a great U-tune video where the audio is of Shelly reading the book in the Black Sheep Inn in Wakefield Quebec before an audience and the video is created by scanning the art in the book.

I loved the story, the art, and the performance so much that I ordered four books.

By the way, the artist has done a great job of capturing the lumber camp environment around the Ottawa River in the late 1800s. The bunkhouse is exactly like the bunkhouses the lumberjacks lived in then (although quite a bit cleaner).

I have no connection with Shelly, Magdalene, or the book publishers.

Here is a link to the video:  The Christmas Canoe

The best time to watch this video is on Christmas Eve (Réveillon), so I am bumping this thread as a reminder to everyone here.

Frank,
That is a wonderful tale.
Our daughter is here from Arlington, Va.  I will show to her today (Christmas Eve)
the rest of the family will be here tomorrow.  Maybe a quiet time will allow a recall.

Merry Christmas to all
Tinker
