Guide Stop + Rail with Jigsaw

have i used it? yes

was it successful? not really

was i expecting it to work? no

why? jigsaws are not designed to cut in straight lines

I have seen it being used to cut 100mm high density insulation ( expanding foam type )
and it worked very well but not sure about anything else.

I've used it once, recently, and will probably use it again.  I used it to rip solid wood with a blade designed for ripping, and found the quality of the cut much better than what I was able to get from the Panther blade on the ATF55.  On the other hand, it's cumbersome to set up because it's so wide, and it cuts much more slowly than a circular saw.  I haven't yet found a need to use it to cut sheet goods, but in that case the speed and width would probably not be much of a disadvantage compared to the circular saw and guide rail.  All things considered, I'm glad I bought it, even though it's not that useful.  Hope this helps.

Regards,

John

Hi,
Does anyone use the guide stop + rail with their Trion jigsaw?
-Andy

Hi, I used this combo to cut 16mm MDF the other day and nearly cracked a fat at how straight and square the result was. (Tho my previous setup was with a B+D jigsaw with jarrah straightedge...I may have been too easily impressed). I didn't use a circular saw because I don't have one.

I have yet to try the trion + rail on hardwood tho.
