Guido Henn, another simple trick from The Festool Jedi ;-)

I dont understand a word of german, but Guido gets the message across, clear as a bell.

When I travel to Germany to visit all of the inlaws and outlaws with my wife, i also do not understand much of the language.  i have found that i can understand a little of conversations by picking out one person in the crowd who seems to be a little clearer, or slower, speaking.  Once i zero in on that one person, the whole conversation becomes much clearer.  i think Guido would be that one person in any crowd.  i have watched several other of his videos and I have yet to be at a loss to understand what he is explaining. so clear and so precise.

I tried the "extension table" sold for the 1010 and didn't think it worked well.  This home-made version is as useful for me as it is humble.  (And like everything I make, it's very, very humble--the blue tape is a shim.)  Anyone who likes the idea would have plenty of room to improve on the looks and function.

Regards,

John

I'm sure it helps that you're already familiar with the tool he's using. For someone that has no real concept of what a router can do, I'd suggest that message would not be so clear.

Hey James,  Thanks for the GREAT HEADS UP.  I am making a matching cutting board and and serving tray (Christmas present for son & DIL >>> I'm way ahead of schedule this year.  Usually i get these sort of things delivered sometime before next Christmas.  The tray has already been delivered.  Oh! WAY ahead  ::)).  I had to do a lot of edge rounding where that foot on the side of my OF 1000 was not deep enough.  I did struggle with keeping level, finally with the tray, I clamped wood scraps for the foot to rest on while moving router along the edge.  Yesterday, i was already to set up when I decided to come up for a cup of tea while i thought about how best to do the edge.  While waiting for the tea to cool down, i checked in with FOG and came across your post.  I had never noticed that guide was level with the router base.  WOW!  The edge round-over went so much quicker.

I had already decided to use Guido's trick for some other bowl/tray projects coming up (more Christmas 2011).  My how to file just got a little bigger. Thanks
