Hand saws

Iv asked my good lady to buy me a new tenon saw for my birthday
(She's not keen as she thinks more tools mean I will just spend more time down the shed)

I had a spear and Jackson professional tenon and dovetail for the last 30 odd years
The saw sharpener guy said he can't sharpen them again

So the question is which ones do you recommend

Or I'm liking the look of some japanese pull saws have had a look at some you tube vids and they look really cool . But there seems so many available and at such different prices

I prefer the western saws to Japanese ones. The Lie Nielsen tenon saw is excellent.

If you decide to go the Japanese saw route, look for the Dozuki "Z" saw that costs about $42 US which has a blade that can be replaced.  Western style saws in addition to the Lie-Nielsen look at the Veritas saws.

The Lie-Nielsen gets my vote. She's a beaut.

Get a Skelton Saw, you won't find much better, handmade by Shane Skelton in England, only downside is you have to wait for it to be made for you.
