Hand scraped hardwood floors with planner

  I am interested in putting handscraped hardwood floors in a house that I am building. I want to install unfinshed hardwood as opposed to pre finished. Unfortunalty it seems you can only get this type of flooring pre finished. I was wondering if anyone has used the planner with the profiling heads to do a similiar job. - was thinking if you fill and sand the whole floor and then come up with a system to sytematically profile the who floor.  Any ideas???

I heard a local installer installed an unfinished hand scraped floor a few months back.  I didn't see the full process, but I understood that they used the planer on each individual board before they were installed.  Then they hit the whole floor with a sander to smooth the rough texture and make everything look like a cohesive package.
