Ouch.......... [scared]

just get back to work its only a scratch [poke]

Sorry to hear your news.  A friend of mine once slipped while pruning roses with a Stanley knife and got his other wrist.  Spectacular blood loss, and a couple of days in hospital while they used fishing line to reconnect the tendons, but he's fine now...

Wishing you a speedy recovery,

Andrew

umm have a labourer to hold stuff for you lol  while you saw screw or whatever with one hand!

Im sure the UK system will help you out the system is good like that its always helps the hard working people [unsure] all you need is to not speak english and alter something about you.. and you will be racking the benefits in.

Sorry to hear about your accident.  Wish you a successful recovery.  Assuming that the injury is not on your dominant hand, you may still be able to work to some degree.  When I cut my left ring finger and part of it had to be reattached, I actually quit my old job and started back as a contractor because I could find things to do that were possible with limited usage of my injured hand.  Granted, my injury was not as severe as yours, but how your fingers / hand are / is casted could make a difference.  Having access to your thumb and pointing finger could really make a difference.  If it isn't too late, discuss this with your doctor.

Good luck!

Peter

Hope you got your ring off quick!!

I did something very similar years ago and the most painful thing was as the injured finger began to swell the ring began to restrict the blood flow as the finger swelled. After 3 hours in A & E with a hand that now resembled a baseball glove the nurse removed it with a cutter like a Dremel. I don't mind admitting I was just a little embarrassed at the "girl like squealing" noises that I was making.

Anyway the one thing I did as a result was take out a "Personal injury" Insurance for such a future occasion. It will only pay £50 per day and for a maximum of 10 weeks but it will helpshould this happen again. I haven't reviewed it for a while but having read your thread I will check it again and think about upgrading it.

Speedy recovery mate!

checked all my insurances nothing covered. The way i look at it im still alive suppose it could have been much worse. Thanks for all your support oh does anyone wanna borrow my festools while im off lol only joking.

is it your best hand? im sure you can cut that cast off and get yer self back to work at take it steady

The loss of income is rough, but you're lucky to live in a country where you didn't have to worry about whether you had health insurance to pay for the surgery!  Hopefully we'll catch up to you some day.

If you end up in Eatford again, pop in for a coffee.

I used to go clubbing in watford years ago , went for a walk up the high st to bring back memories. paradise lost which changed to kudos and is still there but called oceana. the place has changed now [sad]

Sorry to hear that Chris, hope it gets better soon.
Anyone you know well to sub your work to so you can still earn a bit?

Rob.

That's a bummer, hope it gets better soon.  I'm sure the cast will be off by Orlando time, or at least much smaller.  On the ring, as soon as i got back from my honeymoon, the ring was off & i never had it on again.  Just too dangerous.  Hear to many horror stories with rings involved.

Take it easy, Woodguy.

Ditto on that one ! No more rings for me either - too much of a ( safety ) hazard.
I stopped wearing a ring about 10 years ago.
Since they came as a pair, I had to loose the wife as well....  [wink]

On a more serious note: I hope you get well soon Joiner! Solid advice to try and find someone to be your sub for the time being. Next time around you may be able to help him (or her) out.
Hang in there!

Regards,

Job

If it makes you feel any better, had 3 tendons on fingers reattached at different times in life. They do take a little time to heal. Just wait till you finger starts healing then involuntary twitches on its own! ouch!! [scared].

Sorry Joiner to hear from your bad luck..

Haven't had similar injuries myself, but my father was a finishing carpenter known as "Schreiner and Glaser" in German. He had a terrible injury with a larger planer and cut some fingers mostly off.. it is about 25 years ago, but my father recoverd very well, after he got micro surgery of his nerves and tenons.. it took about 5 month to get completely recovered, but the good news for you is .. even though this was a real terrible disaster he could recover very well and very fortunately continue his work.. without much problems..

Wishing you all the best, patience and health,
get well soon and take care, Mike

I dont know! Your talking micro surgery! Been to our hospitals?!  We aint like Germany! Germans want the best and make the best and do the best. You have your CARS (audi, Merc,BMW)  You have your appliances (Miele) You have your tools! Festoool Protool many more top companies!   I now look who its made buy and where if aint German i am far less likely to buy it! So probably your Hospitals are SUPER soon you will be able to make festool arm drills!

Stafford Hospital! Is a Hospital near me! And is known for not being very good!  Any how! My brother broke his hand in the gym! Some one dropped a weight on it and just said soz!  Well he drove home but the pain was to much so drove to the hospital. When getting there they said nothing wrong go home. He drove home! My mum had a look at an said thats broken it feels broken! His ring finger and pinky had dropped out of line with his other two fingers you could not see his knuckles so by just looking you could tell his hands looked odd!  So angry mother! Called up and said he needs his hand sorting they said it was fine! She said if his hand heals dis formed ill be taking you to court! Well it gave them a kick in the....  any way they said we will have a another look. They X-raid and found it was broken it two places and need plates screwing into his hand!   Now thats how good the UK NHS is!  I say no more!
