Just saying hello from San Francisco. Just got back into the Wood Game and decided to go tool shopping. Walked in to a local tool shop, saw Festool and FELL IN LOVE! Left with about 25 Grey Boxes! lol.... Getting into "Slider Barn Doors" and "Adirondack Chair Furniture". Haven't seen too many people out here doing the Interior Slidrs. Well i'm getting my shop set up and plugged in a few of the Fest tools and must say, there is no comparison. You do get what you pay for!!!! See you guys soon and if anyone has a great source for reclaimed lumber please let me know! It's been 12 years since I made a cut. Let's see if I still have it.

Welcome!

A thread about salvaged lumber in the SF area - I've been to a few of the places listed, and you just need to spend some time looking or calling around to find what you want. Patience is a virtue when it comes to that kind of stuff!

http://driftwoodsalvage.com - mentioned in the comments, no longer has a warehouse, but they still have on site sales at houses being dismantled. You can pick up lots of cheap Doug fir, and redwood at cheaper prices than you'd find anywhere.

They missed Jackel Enterprises, though Watsonville may be considered too far away.

Wood Bank in Berkeley can get some reclaimed stuff, too.  Good source for wood and ply in general.

Craigslist is also a good resource - folks are often selling some reclaimed timbers from some old structure.
