Hello All!

I've been lurking around this forum for a bit now and have to say, you guys are a fun bunch, who also happen to really enjoy festool.  I have been using festool on my jobs for about two years now and truly enjoy what they provide to not only the finished product, but to the mental mind as well.  It's satisfying to pull out a tool that makes you feel good to hold.  They in a sense, remind you that you have succeeded in some way or another in what you do.  Anyway... I'm really interested in the plexi jig that attaches to the routers.  I've searched previous posts, but have found very little info about the jig.  I'm wondering if anyone can give a slight kick in the rear and convince me that spending over $200 on a jig is worth it.  Many thanks!

Evergreen,

this is a wonderful jig and it has many uses. check out some of the things I used it for on this threadhttp://festoolownersgroup.com/index.php?topic=3317.0

Jerry Work also has written about it on his website www.jerrywork.com

Brice Burrell has an excellent review on his website www.burrellcustomcarpentry.com

You can also do a search on it's previous name OF-HF routing aid

good luck,

Eiji

Brice's review of the template convinced me of how useful it was, but I still wasn't willing to fork over $280 for it.  I ended up building my own for about $60, which you can find in this thread  Plexi-template

If you have a drill press and a router, you'll be able to build it in about  1 1/2 - 2 hours.  Put that $200+ you saved towards another great festool!

Cheers,
Rob

Cannuck I remember the thread. If I ever need one I definitely will make it now. Nice how too!

Amen.

Cannuck's template looks even better than the festool jig. As long as he installed the center rules and added a dust port.

Did you get those installed, Cannuck? If so post some pics, Dude.

the reason I say cannucks template looks better is that the sides are UHMW plastic. The plexi sides of the Fes jig tend to stick a little. One could always add alil UHMW tape to the side though and that would also allow centering the jig on 18mm stock vs. the 20mm min as is.
