Help Adapting Hoses

Hey folks ☺. Im using a ct midi with 27mm hose and would like to have the option to add another length of hose to it so that i can hang it from a hook over my work table. This worked well with my old ridgid vac and hoses to take the weight off the hose while sanding.

The array of festool adaptors and connectors is a little confusing so i hoped someone could steer me in the right direction. Ideally i would leave the main hose connected to the vac at all times and just add a length to it when needed. I realize ill induce a little suction loss but because this will be primarily for sanding im not too concerned. And it will just be a short 3 or 4 ft leader added.

If i buy another 27mm hose, what adaptors can i use to quickly pop on this extension?

Thanks for any help!

Good morning.  I'll take a stab at what you will need to connect 2 Festool D27 hoses together.  It matters not what de you're using so long as you wish to connect a hose to the hose which is attached to your de.  You need 2 parts: #452 892 - AS D27 Rotating connector, and # 493 047 - AS Connector Sleeve.

Remove the "tool end" connector from the D27 connected to your Midi and replace that connector with the AS D27 Rotating Connector.  Once connected, push the end into one end of the Connector Sleeve, and push the de end of the 2nd hose into the other end of the sleeve and you're ready to go.

[member=8352]erock[/member] has a You Tube video on how to do this, including removing/replacing the appropriate connectors from/to the hose.  This is most probably on his blog, Poplar Shop.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the feedback Drd. With the rotating connector and sleeve, i'll no longer have a tool end on the main hose, meaning i can only use it with the extension right?

I was hoping to be able to use the single main has as normal, and simply add on the extension when needed, having a tool end on both.

Do you know of any fitting for the vac end of the hose that will allow me to just stick a tool end into it, or am i venturing into the realm of DIY pvc pipe solutions and the like?

What tool, or what are the dimensions of the tool(s) ends?
The hose either goes into it, or over and around it.

From my looking around at the possibilities when I started connecting the Festool hoses, the short answer is no.  There are a multitude of possibilities if going from D36 to D27, but D27 to D27 without changing ends - not that I am aware of.  The tool end of a D27 does NOT fit snuggly in the de end of a D27 hose.

If you get the Connector sleeve, the de end of the additional D27 fits nicely.  As for the other end of the Connector, you might luck out with some of the Rockler hose adapters where one end would fit the sleeve and the other end of the adapter accepts the tool end of the connected D27, I have no knowledge of what they have.

Just as a note, it takes less than 60 seconds to remove the tool end fitting and replace with he de end fitting - it's not complicated, it's just an extra step.

Not sure where you are, but if you are near a Rockler, take the tool and de end fittings and go try what they have.  If one matches the de end of the de fitting, it will fit in the sleeve.  Then again, they may have something else that would serve as a connector.

How about getting a 36mm hose, run that from the midi.

On your current 27 mm hose Swap the 50mm dust collector end for a 27mm tool end and it will 'plug' into the 36 mm hose nicely.

Two different hoses will give you more options and the 36 will give you better suction in some cases.
