HELP---I'm falling !!!

---I am excited to have ordered a 1400 router from Sir Bob today, before the infamous Festool price increase !! I entered the FSGS ( Festool slippery green slope...) approx. 2 yrs. ago on an expensive whim with the Dominoe. Since then, the blissful fall went : planer and 22 vac, TS55, KAPEX ( hooked up me old Sawhelpers ...hee-haw!!! ), and now the router.
 I am a self-admitted FSV ( Festool sander virgin ), as I have never even touched one ( honest, officer !! ). Nor the drills... I was seriously thinking of going that direction, but feel the router setup will step up my game, or at least make the process more pleasant ! In the meantime, my 6' Ridgid random orbital ; 2, 18v Ridgid screwguns (monsters!); and 2 Ryobi 18v hammer drills (ratatatatatatat!!!!! ) will have to suffice...

i went a little different path than you.  I started with the RO150 and Ct22.  Then the TS55 and MFT.  Next came the OF1400.  Then the Dominoes fell. 

I still maintain that the sanders are the key to the addiction.  The Rotex has no equal.  The Makita and Bosch models each have their strong points, but the Rotex is the best blend.  The ETS 150/3 is by far the best sander I have ever used.  Even the sanding block is top of the line.  I was a little disappointed by the ETS125, but am otherwise more than happy. 
 
Uncle Bob can help fix your FSV problem in a flash...and if you act fast, at a better price than next week. ;) LOL
 
The ETS 150/3 is a significant step up from other electrical sanders that I've used (PC, Bosch, Dewalt).  IMO the benefit of the Festool drill is the chucking system and the ability to get into tight places (with the appropriate chuck).  For straight drilling or driving of screws I'd stick with a Panasonic.
 
--Not yet... I appreciate the idea and that it's part of THE SYSTEM, but am very weight -conscious. My van is already towing close to 1,800 pounds as it is.... In a (more) perfect world, I would have a big Dodge/ Mercedes Sprinter, and the tow-weight-thing would not be an issue ... Does the MFT really accomplish tons more than I can do with my Kapex and/or 55 w/ rails ... You know, it wasn't that long ago that I was just dreaming of these tools, and now I actually have an acceptable arsenal !
   I have no doubt that the Festool sanders and drills are a significant improvement from what I am using, but I can only purchase these Festools one step at a time !
 
In my opinion the MFT is the heart of the system. It is the sliced bread. The MFT was the first Festool item that was installed in my shop. I got it with the saw (AT65 at the time). The MFT lets you accomplish almost a bazillion things. Well, I exagerate. It lets you accomplish a bazillion things minus 1.  :)

To me, it truely is that great.
 
--Well thanks for the good info. I will look into it further. I will also post a photo of my on-site setup once I figure how to do that....
