I have a DTS400 and RTS150/3 and looking to buy an assortment of abrasives.  I build built-ins, cabinets and furniture.  The materials I am using are solid cherry, maple, oak, popular and pine, various plywoods and MDF.  All of the solid material goes through my planer so I am using fairly smooth material to start with.  Some things I finish with paint and some are finished with stain and poly.  Right now everything is hand applied but I would like to start spraying on the finishes also.  Does my list make sense?  For the 180 I am not sure if I should get it in Rubin or Brilliant.

Rubin:  80, 120, 150, 180?
Brilliant 2:  180?, 220, 320, 400

I'ds say this:

Rubin:  80, 120, 150
Brilliant 2:  40, 80, 120,150, 180, 220, 320, 400

Don't forget the lower grits Brilliant, they'll come in handy often.

Thanks Alex.  The lower grit Brilliant would be for painted wood and the Rubin would be for bare wood right?

Rubin mainly for bare wood, yes. But Brilliant also comes in handy some times for that. It doesn't happen a lot, but sometimes you'll find Brilliant will give a better effect or just works easier than Rubin. Sometimes. For the rest, you can use Brilliant on anything.
