Hi everybody!

While searching for opportunities to make some improvements in my shop I discovered a promotional offer of a German company – Hettich
I can buy for the half of the normal price two drill jigs - Hettich DrillJig VB  and Hettich hinge drilling jig

Pictures you can see here:

The jigs are of very high quality, ready to be used out of the box, they do not require a lot of space in my shop, they are mobile etc. but..

For the double price (of what I will pay for the jigs) I can get a Blue Max mini

It is ready to be used for drilling hinges, it will require some space in my small shop, it could also be used as an ordinary drill press but the drill bits are very, very expensive …at the other hand ….once set up with the Blue Max mini you could work more fast, precise and efficient

I was thinking anyway to buy a drill press and now for the same money I could get the
Blue Max mini….. or it is better to buy the jigs – I will spend less money, the jigs do not require much space (and I have a small shop) I am not a professional, so productivity is maybe not the first thing I should think about…

What would you do? Any considerations?

Buy the jigs. They are both very good and even if/when you move up to a drill press they will come in handy when you only need to drill a couple holes here and there.
I have both and use them.

Thank you for your valuable advice Tim!

I wonder could the jigs also be used to drill the 15/25 holes for the Rastex/minifix fittings if I buy an additional 15/25 drill bit?

Regards

Yes, I would particularly if they are on sale too. I haven't used the jig that way so I am not sure if the offset dial will work the same but everything else should set up properly.
If you are drilling a lot of melamine the bits do dull more quickly but you can do a fair amount before that happens.
Good luck.
