Is it normal for the charger to make noise?  Mine has a slight high pitched hum when plugged in.  The noise gets louder when a battery is being charged.  The noise ramps up from nothing for about 10 seconds, then it stops and the cycle starts again.

Mine doesn't do that at all.

Sounds like the power MOSFET's might be overheating. If it's out of warranty I'd open it up and check everything's tight and the heatsinks are making good firm contact with the components.

Yep mine does the same.  Not sure if its normal or not but definitely annoying

Thanks for the replies.  Good to know that it is not about to burst into flames.  Kind of strange for a premier brand product.  None of my Milwaukee or EGO charger make noise like this.

I hadn't noticed this before but the two I checked both make a slight buzz/hum at a fixed frequency and volume.

I can hear this sound in a normal room from about 2 feet away but it does appear to be almost inaudible from 3 feet or further.

My TCL 6 Duo on the other hand seems to be absolutely quiet, even putting my ear to it.

Power electronics without annoying noises comes at a premium. Festool probably didn't specify that. In the computer industry coil whine has been an issue for years and higher end brands specifically advertise their efforts to reduce it.

You could consider drowning some components in epoxy, but keep an eye on thermal issues..
