Hi Folks
I'm new to FOG although I have been a festool user for over 14 years. I can't believe its taken me this long to join up.

Just before Christmas I purchased a HK85 and I'm really impressed with it. I've been using it on a green oak king post frame truss project. I can hear you saying that I should have bought the SSU 200 but I couldn't stretch to the extra cost, and also thought that the HK85 would get more use on other projects. Anyway, its an awesome saw and I'm really pleased.

I'm using it connected to my CTL midi, and  find that I'm swapping from HK85 to using my Rotex 150 often on site to clean up the beams before I mark them, and to remove any pencil marks that I get wrong and might confuse me.

So the question is, Why is the HK85 hard wired? no plug it? and can the Festool plug it conversion (UBS-PUR 360) be wired into the machine.

Cheers Richard

Plug-it power cords are not suited for machines which draws more power then ~1,800W.
The HK 85 draws 2,300W like the OF 2200 which also has no Plug-it cord.

And some machines are considered more robust without a Plug-it power cord.
If you wish Festool can rebuild nearly all machines with fixed power cords.

^^^ exactly.

Have you tried the grooving unit? I've got it, but I really haven't had a chance to exploit it.

Hi Neeleman.

Many thanks for you quick reply. I thought that it was probably a power consumption thing. Guess Ill just have to bend down more to reach the vacuum connection or put the vacuum on a table.

Hi Kev.

No i haven't bought the grooving unit yet. It looks very interesting though.

Cheers Richard

You can also use a simple power strip to connect 2 power cords to your vac.
Then you only have to swap the vac hose or use the Y-adapter (#452898) for that and work with 2 hoses
And normally you will not use both machines at once because of the power specs of the vac.

I used a similar consideration as an excuse to add the optional second power outlet to my CT26. This way I can keep a plug-it plugged in and still have an outlet without adapters. Which seems to be a pretty stealthy piece of accessory since I currently fail to find it on the festool website.
