Just for the record. There is in fact a saw like this, and all of the Festool HK saws are knock off of the Mafell KSS series. The MF26CC uses the same type of dado blade in addition to other type of groove cutting and saw blades.

The Festool HK saws have their roots in the Protool range.

"knock off" is a bit harsh when you consider ever circular saw is an evolution from the first time someone put a round blade on the end of a motor ... I think your red spots are showing!!

The HK saws are variations of the KSS line, which is a Mafell invention. It's been out for many years. It's not a Protool. I am not saying Mafell invented the circular saw. However, just like Festool didn't invent the mortiser with the Domino, they made a unique version of it. The attached guide rail system is unique to the KSS. You can't just add an attachment to a look-a-like and anounce that it is a complely new tool.

That's all. Not tear down anything here. I just thought it was fair to give credit to where it was due. I love these ingenious German tool companies, but I wish Festool would be a little more inventive these days. It seems like most of their latest products are developed by other companies. Some of which are from Protool.

I do love that the VAC SYS is coming..

VACSYS is new for you guys, but it's obviously not new for Festool. They really are labouring on new product releases. The blatantly obvious hole in the impact driver space and the shoddy SysRock make me curious about the state of Festool's R&D and market analysis.

All it'll take is tech giant to release something like a multifunctional guided router and we'll see a new wave of tech enhanced tools from the big players and companies like Festool dropping off the radar [sad]
