you "lot"  ;D "  talk about home depot like they are "sheds"

are they the same / different crew to b&q (uk) with orange/white logos owned by a firm called kingfisher, who pile them high and sell them cheap

and who have own brand products so claims of same "quality" lower price [to get a 10 percent refund (on the difference in price)] are impossible

From the description their either the same or one copied policies from the other.

heard them referred to here as the "Borg" (from Startreck, not sure about the implication, other than maybe "resistance is futile" since when they come to town they rapidly become your only option - except for Lowes which should give advantages (since they always build either next door or accross the street from each other) but mostly just adds blue to your choices in logo color schemes.

Their main contribution to society so far is to force brands like Dewalt to make their products down to a price point where the reputation of the manufacturer loses ground rapidly, IE: plastic gears in a model that has metal gears when purchased from anywhere else.

the perfect explanation as to how a "similar product at a similar price" will get you a discount, is impossible

plastic gears to save money, and reduce quality, also shows why dewalt have lost their reputation in "the trade" for good product

perhaps dewalt would benefit "in the trade" for having a website like this

where the ceo of dewalt america has more than a passing interest

I would bet good money that the CEO (if there is one) of Dewalt (I suspect the actual boss has a big title under the company name of Black and Decker) has never made any sawdust in his life, he is most likely to be an accountant and could not answer a basic question about the use or design of any of his company's products.

I think that's why we're prepared to pay the big bucks to a company like Festool, I am prepared to pay more for a product from someone who actually gives a damn about something other than pure short term profit regardless of consequences.
