AT first glance the $250 look expensive for the new vac hose covered in a sleeve with a Plug-it cord.  But look at the parts:

Systainer 3          78.00
Vac hose            119.00
Plug-it                  46.00
                      -----------
Sub total            243. 00
12' Gorilla Sleeve  36.00
                      -----------
Grand total        270.00

So the real kicker is it comes in a Systainer 3. That makes the price look high.

Well. for what it is worth, the same applies to every component of the package. I find it hard to find any component in it which looks cheap  [laughing]

I very much like the idea of power cord running along the vacuum hose under a sleeve. With the benefit of hindsight, one can certainly ask why did it take Festool so long to come with this idea? It makes so much sense.

What I wonder, is which connector this power cord has. There are two types of connectors which Festool uses, with and without a tab. Low power (16 - 18 ga?) cords would not plug into tools which require high current (12 -14 ga?) cords. Since this one is offered for sander, it is probably a low current version.

Integrated 16 AWG Plug It Cord is compatible with many Festool tools.

Hopefully the male end of the cord is not what is shown in the current pictures! It would be hard to pop that into a N American vac or outlet!

The current offering of Plug-It cords is 18 AWG for lower-current tools and 16 AWG for higher current tools. The 16 AWG fits them all.

As [member=18038]copcarcollector[/member] pointed out, this package has the heavier gauge, 16 AWG cord.

Ill be first in line when they are offered without the systainer like the longer version.

I was taking a hard look at the longer hose so I could cut it in half, but once I add the fittings I am not sure it's worth it. And that zipper would be ring on one end for sure.

For those that will use the hose in their shop, it seems the Systainer is an unneeded add on. Guess you could sell it off...

I had the chance to use this in 2012. The Festool rep sent us one but the cover was neoprene and not so easy to remove. Glad they changed the sleeve. It is a huge convenience. Now if they would finally release the sander they let me test with this cord.
