How do I set the domino fence?

I am putting a top on a cabinet.  The top is 15mm wider than the base, and the sides are made of 17mm wood.

I figure I should set the fence to 8.5mm for the sides, and 16mm for the top.  Unless I am seriously confused, that will come out right, won't it?

Just want to make sure before I cut something that doesn't fit!

If I understand your question right, yes, set the fence to 16 mm. 7.5 mm overhang plus the 8.5 mm to center the tenon.
