How do you store your parallel guides?

I'm working on organizing and cleaning up my workshop, and I'm looking for suggestions on what to do with my parallel guides for my TS-55. I'd like to hang them on the wall (I have a space for them, and I don't have much in the way of horizontal shelves), but I thought I'd ask to see what other people do with them.

And if I was to hang them on the wall, should I avoid hanging them by the movable guides?  I'm a little worried that hanging them by the movable guides might throw them out of alignment.

The holes in the ends work pretty well.

I've even used those holes in the ends of the guide rails to pin them overhead for elongated slots in eaves.

HI Tom,

I think you're thinking of the holes in the end of the guide rails, which I am already taking advantage of to hang them on the wall.

I'm looking for storage ideas for the parallel guides:

Oops!

This is how I store mine...

It uses these and a standard peg board.

Just got mine and the one thing I do wish they had were plastic end caps for the rails as I tend to lean them against a wall with the aluminum extrusions on the floor. Over time they're gonna get dinged or crud shoved up the extrusion. Just like the bumpers on the end of a Stabila level.

You could always make some out of any ... exotic to us.... timber you find on the islands. ;D

Mine are stored in the Festool bag, along with 2 no. FS1400 rails, 1no. FS800 Rail, the contents of the guide rail accessory systainer, a 1mtr steel rule, a 600mm steel rule and a couple of  300mm Klemmsia Cam Clamps. It might have a couple of suitable screwdrivers lurking in there too. [big grin]

Wilbur,

My shop is in my basement.  I have steel I-beams across the open ceiling rafters.  The lower lip on the I-beam really comes in handy.  I use it to hang my clamps and use the cove portion of the beam to store my parallel guides and other small items.

I did some searching, and if it's the bag that I'm thinking about, it's as exotic to the US as Mark's timbers are to you.  ;)

That would work, but I would hate to walk up to my garage from my basement shop every time I needed to use the parallel guides.  [wink]

I wound up doing something similar to what Tom did, except I cut a piece of scrap wood to fit instead of using pegboard holders, and then screwed the scrap wood to the wall.

Thanks, everyone!
