I am addicted to Festool products. I am just curious, are there a lot of home hobby people like me that spend a ton of money on Festool, or am I the only one? After purchasing the 500 Domino set, 1400 Router, Carvex set, MFT table, 55 Track Saw, Rotek 150, I am going to purchase the Router Table set, Kapex, and a DTS 400 sander, oh and the parallel guide system. Is this over the top or is this great? I am just curious.

You are NOT alone! [eek]

I haven't tallied it up yet, but in the last year, having been in your position last May, I'm well into five figures....well into five figures! [scared]

(Don't tell the missus please!!) [embarassed]

Welcome to the Green Machine.  All Festool Dealers are like Heroin Pushers... Happy you're addicted and more than willing to feed your cravings! [tongue]

Cheers,

Frank

You're over to top.  You don't need all that.    I'm a hobbyists and look at my list of festool gear.   No need to go over board with this hobby.     [tongue]

Eric, I'm a hobbyist as well, but I've got a long way to go to catch up to your collection.

I just got my KA-UG set and BHC18 Li Plus in the mail today. And then a local dealer had a sale, so I ended up buying a new MFT/3 table too. Strictly for home use.

So no, you are not alone. I certainly hope Festool won't make an 18V Impact driver this year. My wife will kill me then...

I would like to be a hobbyist and DIYer, but I am mostly a collector due to lack of time [sad] Besides Festool (see my signature) I have a good collection of hand tools from Blue Spruce Toolworks, Lie Nielsen, Veritas/Lee Valley and Bridge City Tool Works. As soon as I build a house or move I will begin adding machinery. I have been looking at Felder/Hammer, Mini Max, Agazzani, SawStop and if I suddenly become rich... Martin [drooling]  I don't get to use my tools very often, but when I do it is a complete joy and not over the top  [thumbs up]

IMHO, if you purchase 1 tool that you are never going to use, that's over the top (unless you are a tool collector).  But if you purchase 20 tools that you will eventually use, that is not over the top.

I'm a hobbyist, and in the last 10 months I have purchased the ETS 150/5, Domino DF 500, OF 1400 Router, Carvex, TS 55 and several Festool accessories, but have used them all on various projects, so I don't feel it's over the top.

You're dealing with a perfectly normal human traits. Addiction? Not really.

I look at it (for me) more as a passion, bordering on an obsession. It's desire based (want) ... not needs based.

At the extreme end you're looking at rational v's irrational behaviour. Here's where you need to consider who is going to judge your actions and from that, what the implications will be.

RELAX [wink] [big grin]

That's where the upgraded TS55 goes, its in the pile on the right, sold the 'older' model. Love the organization!

100 is a rounder target ... though the NANIA limited range you guys have may impede that a little.

I do admire copcarcollector's dedication with the Sysports ... I can't bring myself to pull the trigger on 20 of those suckers (they cost over $1K each in Oz).

I have accumulated 40+ systainers, a conglomeration of Festool and Tanos.  I use them store all my tools (Milwaukee, Makita, Hitachi, Bosch, Porter Cable, Fein and I'm sure I missed some).  I use all sizes, variations and change out the latches to reflect the tools within.  I love the organizational efficiency of the systems.  I regularly work with wood, metal; mostly aluminum and glass and consider myself neurotically capable.  Welding is really the only trade I missed and I keep promising myself I will take the next class at our local Vo-Tech which offers adult after hours classes.

TWENTY - YIPES! I (only) have six, plus one SYS500... At $650 USD each, it is painful, but still fun to see... ;D

Festool could sell a lot of shelf modules if they offered a cost effective modular Systainer storage drawer/shelving system ... but that'd eat away at their Sysport sales.

The fact that it could be flat packed would help with reducing the cost of shipping bulky Sysports round the world too! [wink]

Anybody who needs a pallet jack to move their Systainers around is definitely in too deep!
[wink]

(This from the guy who uses a tractor with pallet forks to move around systainers - albeit the First Aid ones that I don't own.)
