How do you go about sanding a piece of wood that is thiner than the bench dogs that hold it? I have a piece of supawood that is 6mm thick and I need to sand it. However the bench dogs on my mft are higher than the thickness of the wood so I end up hitting it. Does anyone have any simple/ easy solution to this beyond trying to prop it up with other wood underneath it?

Thanks

Chris

Use double-sided tape to stick it to another piece of wood or the workbench.

Simple, I do it all the time.

First put down a piece of scrap the same size as the wood piece, but thick enough to bring the piece you want to sand up flush (or a bit higher) to the dogs. Then clamp as usual from the side using the clamping elements.

Actually, I find the piece of scrap does not even need to be the same size as the piece you are working on. The scrap  can be smaller or larger as the clamping elements give you some play.
