say a "friend" has a Rotex that he foolishly let someone of the non-Rotex-savvy persuasion borrow.  Suppose said "friend" didn't know he wasn't supposed to switch modes unless the sander is not running.  What would be the likely damage to the machine.  The "friend" hasn't noticed any ill effects but is just curious.  My "friend" thanks you in advance.  Happy New Year

you can switch from rotation to orbit sanding anytime, but you can't switch the other way.the tool won't let you anyway!
just a precaution from festool.you have to turn the rotex off then switch.
a friend of mine toll me that!

Old model or new model? I have the old model and I change modes running. No issues.
