After purchasing my father a TS55 and MFT/3 for Christmas last year (it was a family gift) I messed up and actually used the saw! I was hooked :)

Well I just jumped head first into Festool ownership! I sold all of my stationary equipment (Less my Grizzly cabinet saw) as I have downsized my shop space. I just purchased the following items:

- CT36E with Boom arm kit and 36mm x 7m hose
- TS75EQ with FS3000/2 rail and the accessory kit
- MFT/3 with quick clamps, clamping elements and Qwas dogs
- Kapex with the MFT/3-Kapex
- RO90 with extra abrasives and the abrasive systainer
- 12 drawer sortainer for screws

Not bad for a head first dive into the deep end. I look forward to learning from FOG all the creative ways to use these great tools!

They should arrive this week! I'm like a kid on Christmas day!

Hi Brandon,

Welcome to the FOG !  [smile]

No slide in your case, more like you jumped off the cliff.

Enjoy all that new stuff !

Seth

Your wife will soon be complaining that you're reciting German technical manuals backwards in your sleep ... Later, you'll realize you've mastered the secret Festool hand shake from multiple unconscious practices (performed only with a Festool dealer while holding your credit card in your hand).

It's ok though - you'll be blissfully unaware of the real woodworking world, with its dust and dirt and sawdust and noise - because you'll be in Festoolland.

[welcome]

Kev.

Wow, I think you jumped straight to Grand Master status!

Welcome to the FOG.

Hello Brandon,

First of all  [welcome]  not just to FOG but also to the Green KoolAide cult. Using and owning Festools can be addictive!

That is a most impressive list of equipment you recently purchased. Since you still have the space I am sure it is just as well you retained your Grizzly cabinet saw. While you could well conclude, as many of us have done, that for breaking down sheet material a Festool track plunge saw with both a 1900mm and 3000mm rail is super efficient, there are many times a table saw is more efficient working with solid lumber.

I sure hope you did keep the 1900mm rail that came as part of your TS75, since as marvelous as the 3000mm rail is for long cuts, it can be awkward for shorter cuts. Sure if you bought the MFT/3 as a complete set (cat 495 462) it did include a 1080mm guide rail. That is swell for making cross-cuts up to about 23" on the MFT/3 using your TS75. However, when breaking down sheet goods often we all need to cross cut 48" for which you will need the 1900mm rail.

Personally I do use the 36mmAS hose on all my Festools that will accept that size. The 7m length is great with a cleaning kit. However, for the Kapex most of us prefer the shortest length of 36mmAS hose. What I did was buy another set of 36mm hose connectors, so I could cut 3m off a 7m hose just for dedication to the Kapex. This left me a 36mmASx4m hose for the other tools.

Your RO 90 DX is a marvelous sander, especially for face frames when used with the hard pad. However, all the Festool sanders will only accept the smaller 27mmAS hose. A 27mmASx3.5m hose is part of the standard set with a CT36, so I hope you kept that. Beside the various sanders, the Domino 500, the jig saws and both the MFK700 trim router and OF1010 plunge router only accept the 27mm hose.

Brandon, really put your new Festools to work! If you are in the woodworking business Festools will help you make good money. If you use woodworking to relax, Festools will reduce your frustrations and increase your pleasure.

I can't pinpoint what it is, but there's something about these tools that makes you want to "collect all 7!"  Haven't had a similar desire since I was 10...

Collect all 7 ?  I wish that is all there was, I would be a lot better off today  [crying]

Welcome Brandon.

Unfortunately I've never lost that desire. "Finding Festool" hasn't been good - kinda turned a desire into a disorder I think!

Thanks for the kind welcome! I did keep the 1080mm rail so I will have all three lengths which should cover my needs. I also did get the standard 27mm hose as we'll. I kept my table saw for hardwoods and dado cuts. At least until I get my 1400!  [big grin]

That will have to wait until I can knock out some of momma's remodeling wishes!

Brandon, Brandon Brandon,

Now you went and done it.  Your hooked. This Green Kool aid is the most addictive most powerful adn lustful, phenomenom that has plagued man kind since pokemon cards…

I have a good friend of mine, that came over and was playing with my 1010 and other festools I got. He is now seriously considering selling a bunch (he has 20 something routers) of tools to start buying festools.

I am compiling a list of tools to sell that I dont use much any more so I can sell them and get me a domino and a couple of systainers.

Welcome to the FOG, Brandon and welcome to the slippery slope.  I too started with a TS75 a couple of years ago and the collection has grown a lot.  Use your tools, ask lots of questions and you will quickly want the next thing if you are like many of the rest of us!  It is a lot of fun using this stuff and addictive for sure.  Who would have thought sanding could be "fun"?  Great set-up for your initial purchase and I am sure that your Systainers will grow before you know it.

BTW, Festools have a tendency to breed when left alone in the shop for too long...I started with a TS75 and an extra 55 inch rail two years ago and now have 20 Systainers in my shop...I have no idea how that came into being... [tongue]

Hello Brandon

Welcome from the English side of the FOG...

I too sold most of my stationary equipment and replaced it with Festool kit. I love it - it is all so well made, so well thought out and, probably one of the most unexpected advantages, there is the fantastic community of Festool users here on the FOG.

I know the feeling. During the height of the economic crash I bought an MFT, TS75 and OF 1400. Driving home I was muttering, "Oh my God. What have I done, what have I done?"

Exactly! You were saying that not because of the economy but because you forgot the 3000 rail!

Nice haul on the tools.  I, too, wish there were just 7...

Look around the FOG; lots of interesting projects, ideas, and even dead horses! (search for "Robertson"  [tongue])

Mine have a tendency to breed as well and I have discovered that it always seem to happen at the same time as there are massive dips in the size of my bank account. If they could breed for free that would be awesome!

I'm intrigued by the use and connotations of the word cult in the thread title!

I just got the OF 1010 and now I getting the urge to buy something else,I swear this festool addiction has turned me into a serial festool shopper. Im going to wait until after the cabinet class next week to decide what I want. I should have fun playing with all those toys
