This is just here for humor and a good laugh. I love the quote: " I cut it twice and it is still too short".

I hope this has brought a smile to your face and enjoy the errors you make. They are a lesson well learned.

I've never ever done anything like that...and never ever will again.... [big grin]

P.S. - my fire pit in the backyard is rarely starved for material.  I keep it well fed... [embarassed]

The amazing thing about working with living materials like timber, it can actually shrink just after you cut it [huh]

We have a tool for that... the Domino, aka board stretcher.  [big grin]

I 've been looking for the board stretcher for years and never realized it was right there n my cabinet all the time  [big grin]

BTW, for you guys that are only cutting twice, ...................................  I find that cutting three times usually makes the piece long enough.

I had to follow behind a crew on "price work" and they left behind some real class work  [crying]. They did this on several handrails not just this one........my eyes...my eyes......I couldnt sleep at night doing things like this.

Job I'm on can beat that. Some stairs in a 800k house..!

Reminds me of when I was was learning to hand cut dovetails.  I screwed up again and again.  Then finally I did a drawer that looked really good.  When I came back the next morning to fit the drawer to the carcass, I realized I had put the tails on the wrong boards and made the box sideways. [scared] [embarassed]
