I thought it would be easier ordering from Wayfair...

I wanted 40 square feet of matte black penny round tiles.  The local Home Depot had two cartons (about 28 square feet).  A second Home Depot listed the same but I went there first and they had none.

Lowes had ceramic, but not porcelain penny rounds and I would have had to special order these.

So I ordered these from Wayfair.  Four cartons.  One carton arrived.

Wrote to Wayfair.  Explained that I only received one carton.  I don't know if FedEx lost the other cartons or if they never sent them.  I told them I needed the three missing cartons.

They responded by saying one (1) replacement carton was shipped and scheduled to arrive on July 8th. I said that leaves me two cartons short.

I wrote again and they said two (2) replacement cartons were being sent.  I said that leaves me one carton short.

I got another notice today saying that two orders were being sent; one carton on the first order (due to arrive today) and two cartons on the second order (due to arrive on the 8th).

I've bought from Wayfair in the past with no issues.  This time some problems.  And I wonder about the "typo" that read, your order is to sh*t to arrive on the 8th.

(This website changes the word to "stuff" if I spell it out as written.)

I just this moment got a text message that the package was delivered.

I also got an email to that effect, but it seems to show that both orders were delivered.  I won't know until I get home.  If so, I will be able to get the tile work done on my holiday.

I ordered a resin yard shed several months ago. Periodically my credit card authorizes a charge for it but I haven’t actually been billed. Wayfair called me and offered me a business account. I got the number of customer service but haven’t yet called them.
In short, I will not be ordering from Wayfair again.

I got the missing three cartons yesterday.

Today I received a notice that the replacement shipment has shipped.

Right now it appears that FedEx initially lost the three cartons and then found them and delivered them.

And Wayfair has shipped the replacements as well. It sounds like I am going to end up with 7 cartons instead of the four I needed.

Actually I need 40 square feet.  Each carton has 14 square feet so I had a generous overage with just the 4 cartons.

The pity is that their merchandise and prices are both good and their website is easy to use. They are messing up in the mechanical details. But they have been around long enough to have resolved these problems.

I make it a point not to visit a new restaurant for their first three or four months of operation. That gives them enough time to get things operating smoothly.

Wayfair has cheap prices, but it is gamble as to whether or not it will arrive in one piece. For me I have started counting on it arriving with shipping damage. In some cases I counter their discounted offer with a lower number and have had success. The most recent was a table that I am using as a desk. The back had damage, but they knocked a $100 off and I asked for $125 and they accepted. They really lose if they have to pick it up and send another one.

I have had items arrive completely destroyed due to the manufacturers packaging being completely inadequate for shipping to a home.

It turns out that FedEx did misplace the missing three cartons and have now found and delivered them. So far, of the four cartons I ordered, I have received 6 cartons.  One more is on the way.

So I ordered 4 cartons, one arrived on time.  By the time this is done I will have received 7 cartons.  I only really needed just over 3 cartons.

A crazy way to do business. But they did make the effort to make sure I was taken care of.

FedEx is hopeless.  I had the same experience with shop lights from Home Depot: ordered 4, 3 were lost, HD sent replacements, then they were found and delivered. HD said keep ‘em.
AFAICT it is impossible to speak to someone at FedEx by phone.
