Good morning. I need some ideas on how to build a 6 foot high bookcase with 5'x5' baltic birch plywood. I would like the sides of the bookcase to look like one piece.
Cheers.

You don't have the Festool board stretcher?

You could put an elevated footed base on the bottom and a crown or similar finished top to add the 6"...

You could also explore a barrister style bookcase as a means of getting more height without continuous side lengths.

You're in luck .. you can just get a 6x1' board out of the diagonal of a 5x5' [big grin]

JC
Need a few more details.
Are you painting this?
If so 5 x 30mm Dominos and Collins plywood prep bit and some bar clamps will create a strong seamless joint.
Don't over tighten the bar clamps you just need to clamp till the glue drys, then sand the seem with 150 200 grit till smooth.
If you are clear coating the BB, you should be able to get it larger sheets by special order from A & M wood in Guelph.
Hope that helps.

Collins ply prep Available at Atlas in Toronto. If you are in the US various woodworking stores online etc. have it.
Works on ply wood and veneered particle core. Just mill one edge of the two being milled. It creates a seamless joint.

I don't have a demo, too lazy but here is an This is Carpentry article where Gary Katz where he uses it when adding solid edging to shelves.

Ummm...  Why don't you just buy Baltic birch in 4' x 8' sheets?  I recognize that this is more difficult to find, but it IS available.  ApplePly is a wonderful alternative.

Unless you have already bought the BB, McFaddens have 4 x 8 x 3/4 for about 75.00 a sheet last time I got some. You don't need an account they sell to everyone, even open on Saturdays now.

Thanks for the reminder John. Always forget they sell sheet goods.
