Ideal TS 55 Blade for cutting Acrylic Sheets

Hi Team Festool,

I'm going to be custom fitting a few acrylic sheets soon and want to make sure I use the correct blade in my TS 55. It looks as though the 496307 could do the job but I also see that the much more expensive 495383 is an option for cutting spastic. Could you please provide some details about the primary difference between the two?

I do acrylic and polycarbonate fabrication regularly, in volume and use the AGE - plastic/aluminum blades in my 55 & 75 and also on my sliding chopsaw.  I use Freud and Amana industrial blades in my tablesaws. ww.toolstoday.com/p-6095-festool-and-other-track-saw-machine-compatible-saw-blades  I can't really speak to Festool blades, but I have been using industrial blades for 30+ years and just think that Festool blades are over priced.

    We fit 3mm think hygenic paneling to food prep areas.The standard blade works really well, gives a crisp edge and is good for a few hundred sheets before sharpening. We have used the TS55 and currently use the new cordless version which is excellent.

The partnumbers you give are the same type blade, but the second is for the TS75 saw.

(I don't have experience with acrylic, but I use that blade for trespa panels and occasionally for polycarbonate (the roofpanels with the chambers) I turn the speed down to 3 to prevent melting)

edit/ the blade for the ts55 is the partnumber for the old version of that blade; since they changed the blades so they all have the same kerf off 2.2 mm the blade has 52 teeth instead of 56 and the  partnumber is:  496306.

Gentlemen, thanks so much for your feedback. That's really helpful I'm glad to hear that the standard blade works well also. I'll test it on a piece of scrape first though.  [unsure]

i use the stock blade and reduce speed to 2 on .22" thickness
