Ideas for this Space

Hi Everyone,
I decided to create this new board to help open the forum up a bit more.

We are all are interested in Festool, or we wouldn't be here!  Perhaps one day Festool will make every single power tool and major woodworking machine we could ever need.  But in the meantime, we sometimes have to buy from other companies!  I have a hunch that people in this forum share some basic preferences regarding machine quality, and that might be reflected in our choice of tools that go beyond Festool.

This board could be useful for members looking for reviews, comments, and information about various non-Festool machines, and, when relevant, how those machines partner up with our Festool tools.

So, let's hear which tools you use that go along with your Festool tools.  How do you like them?  Give us all the details, with photos!

I have all Inca Stationary Tools in my Shop. Like Festool, I tend to stick with the best. I also have found many benefits in sticking with a line such as common accessories, cords, etc.

My very favorite is my Fein Multi-Master, it is a very effective sander, scraper and (depending on the blade) close-quarters saw. My major complaint is the dust extraction attachment. It seems to be poorly designed and restricts the motion of the sanding pad. If any one out there has found a way to improve this I would love to here it. Number two would be my DeWalt 1/2" VSR drill. There is nothing fancy about it but it has a good keyless chuck with spindle lock, a sensitive (yet easily controlled trigger) and ample power for drilling any size hole in wood. Number three would be the Kreg Pocket Hole Jig which just makes putting things together easier. These are good, functional tools, but I can't help but think that if they were Festool they would be that much  better.

There are a ton of tools out there that just make sense.  I use the Kreg Jig to quicken the "Domino effect."  Recently, In the new brick and mortar store of ours, we built some plywood racks and rather than using clamps on the construction grade 2 x 4's we just put a quick pocket hole in the piece and voila...there is all the clamping on a "rail and stile" type application we needed waiting for the glue to dry.  I'll see if I can't get some quick pics later to show.  It would be a good exercise for shop benches and rough carcass construction with construction grade lumber.

I'd like to see those photos. I have a Domino and am thinking about getting the Kreg Pocket jig.
