Hi guys,My name is Larry but a lot of folks call me Grinding One as I engrave wood, glass ,eggs, and metal.I`m also a woodcarver/both in the round and relief.I dabble in Leather stamping a little too,as I had a need for a sander that didn`t throw dust everywhere I bought a Rotext 150 and a CT dust collecter.Next problem had to cut a square end on a board 7 ft long...I have a unisaw but 7 ft is pretty long to shove thru it....Hence the need for a better solution here comes my new 75 hand saw by Festool of coarse. Now where is that board??
Hope to visit with you guys on and off....I`m retired (62) from Electrical Linework 37 years at it time for a rest. But moma said she still has to work so I got a part time job delivering flowers wholesale...So I`m in an out a lot....

Welcome Larry, I love the engraving work, I made a baseball bat, and I had a friend with a laser engraver do some work on the barrel. I should get it back tommorrow. It sounds like you are hooked on Festool now. You will have to check out the tool give away in May. Welcome again,

                                                            Rob.

I have done Metal Hunting knifes and cake pans, ostridge eggs and wooden plates....most all of these took first place at the county fair

Hi Larry

Welcome to the forum. I found this old pic that shows that you NEED a Festool router to do some serious engraving ;)

I use a engraver tool (air powered) like the dentist use,it does fine lines you cannot see without a magnification .Dremels run at 30,000 rpm mine makes them look like their shut off.I did the American Eagle ,spread winged with the American shield on his chest, all in 2 inches x 1 inch,in the middle of a blade 8 inches long.Bowie type knife.Routers work for bigger things but not intricate ones.I even had splits in the feathers of the Eagle....

You don't work for the U.S. Treasury Department, do you?

No I don`t,I just like fine detail on metal and glass items. Its nice to see people squint to see the line I made...like how did you do that?? Then I show them and their more amazed. If you do good work it will show,if you rush the project it shows...
I like doing birds and their feathers...
But watching a finish being burnished on with  a rotext is something too....I had to have one.My wife doesn`t like me making all that fine dust, now I don`t anymore. Now wheres that vacum I have a lot of dust to clean up.
Putting hair on animals is fun too....its all in the hands.
