Is my guide rail trashed?

Today I made the moronic mistake of moving more than 5 sheets of plywood at once by standing them straight up as I reached for a small sheet hiding in the back. As I reached over, I lost balance of all 5 sheets of ply causing them to crash down on my MFT table and guide rail.

My rail took a nasty hit causing it to bend down. Was wondering if this could be fixed or should I just buy a replacement?

You might be able to bend it back enough to make square cuts but it will never be good enough for cutting bevels.

I’d cut it down and make it a shorty then buy a replacement.

Welp. Just placed a. Order.

I also sandwiched my rail between two boards with clamps. I’ll see how straight I can get it before I cut anything off. Thanks again for the replys

Like the rest  ...................... try to straighten, probably get a new one, and make a short one. Sometimes an extra short can be handy.

    OR, maybe  DeformedTree can make use of it as is?  [wink]

I have 2-3 that are about the same width as my MFT. Work well with rail dogs.

Yes, it most certainly is, well at least for any precision anyway. As suggested just cut it down and use for narrow cut offs. I wouldn’t even bother trying to straighten it, as it will have stretched, and forcing it back could effect how true the edge is.
Just mark the longest straight point, back off 13mm (1/2”) and cut it.

Checking the other components that the rail sits on might be a good idea too, in case it’s knocked something out.

Hah!  nah, not enough depth, need a beam saw, but if one needed the right rail to rip the keel of a boat in half, it's might be perfect.

Festool marketing this as the "rustic cut rail" and sell it with the rustic look planer blades.
Mafell will sue him for infringing on their roll up rail design.
Woodpeckers will offer this as a One Time Tool and act like they invented it.
TSO will offer guides that allow you to make square cuts off it.
