Is there a genetic marker for English football violence?

Right now I'm sitting at home poking about at the computer while my wife is watching a game of NRL on the TV as she's having a couple of glasses of red ... at an obviously exciting moment you can hear "c'mon kill him, kill him" and it made me smile ...

... almost a lifetime ago I was playing under 9's and I remember running up from left back to tackle a right winger that was running free of the typical cloud of players with the ball you get at that age of play. Over everything going on I heard my mother screaming "c'mon Kevin, kill him, kill him". Well, the ref blew his whistle to stop play, then slowly walked over to my mum and told her to leave the side line as she was scaring the other children.

I actually blame the Romans. What were they thinking when they introduced violent sports to people like the Brits ??  [big grin]

I've always found this kind of thing fascinating [member=13058]Kev[/member]

Football's not a violent game though, just something for gang culture to cling onto. The end of the film "The Firm" sums it up nicely NSFW and contains spoilers - it also contains half the cast of Grange Hill & Eastenders.

Lots of really dreadful films have been made about football hooligans, but a couple worth watching are I.D (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0113375/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1) & The Firm (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095158/)

[size=13pt] Red wine with Football; such a healthy combination!
Hic!  [big grin]

I see 'Grand Designs' starts in 10 mins. Hic.

So ... is it a social conditioning thing or is it something more primal? I can get excited about a sports event, but it certainly stops there!!

In fact I personally prefer to watch sports that are not combative or cruel.

The genetic marker is XX versus XY.
Next question please?

How many chromosomes does it take to change light bulb?

If you assume XX required a consigner then 2.

Which makes one wonder about Four X? Who were those 4 that signed the cans?

That's easy .. Mr X, Mr X, Mr X and Mr Smith.

(though I could be wrong on the last guy)

it's more of a tribal thing isn't it? unless you are a manu or chelsea supporter that is when you reasons for supporting are usually due a to a desperate desire to be seen as a winner than a participater.
