Is there any difference between the discontinued 577111 and the current 578281 grantat abrasive for planex?

I’ve found the discontinued 577111 heavily discounted and was wondering if there was a difference between the 578281 specifically being used with the planex 2.

I think the new one has a better designed inlay that better holds the sheet vs the old one that basicly... fits the boxes instead of the sheets directly.

Interesting. Now that Festool dropped their prices a bit the savings aren’t as great, although not sure I care about it holding the box vs the sheets directly.

Yeah, I think that's what I have, the old one , since it's as old as my Planex version 1, the old rotary Planex. I still have Brilliant 2 discs for the Planex, since they were so inexpensive at one point from Festool for the Planex. Then got dropped as Granat became the go-to disc for the Planex for Commercial Crews.

I just bought the discontinued version 577111 for an amazing deal. Like mentioned above it has a different insert, the new one looks like it’s cheaper and thinner, not sure if it really is. The major difference is the old one contains 150 grit and the new one has 180. All other grits are the same (80, 120, and 220)
