Is this Too Many Colors?

I've long been thinking about systainers beyond the Festool branded ones. You know, putting together systainers to hold the DeWalt, Makita and other branded tools. Maybe systainers in colors to match those brands. But when I see a pic like this, I can't help but wondering if it's just "too much"? Is it a cacophony of colors? Should it all be white with colored T-Locs and the occasional colored box?

What are your thoughts?

this man has every power tool under the sun but uses a hand saw to cut wood. carvex literally behind him

is this a real shop?
That brings up an interesting question because he's a Festool sales Manager. 😵‍💫 😵‍💫 😵‍💫 I'm seeing Milwaukee red, Makita green, Bosch blue and Mirka yellow Systainers...maybe Festool needs to increase his salary so that the Systrainer color dysfunction subsides. :ROFLMAO:

Well technically speaking he is with The Systainer Store not Festool.

On the mini-pegboard: 1 screwdriver, 1 pair of pliers, 1 pair of linemans, but 4 pencils, 2 markers. I guess if you have the correct flat-head screwdriver, you could drive flat, Philips, and square-drive (on the diagonal). If he's at the Systainer Store, it makes more sense.

More on topic, I'd love colors. Most of my Sortainers came about before the store arrived (or Tanos availability). I have several empties I re-purpose that were for the drills since I put them on a shelf above the drill press. Oh and the one for the cleaning set. And the FOGtainers, can't forget those. This is why I want to get moving on labeling: the PostIt+Sharpie looks silly but I could at least color the cards for better categories and maybe some fun graphics

Can you order from the Systainer store or is the shipping cost a non-starter?
For the smallest systainer it's $60 for shipping, when you hit 2-3 the shipping's more than the systainers. Not surprised though, our dollar is really weak against the USD. I do recall there's a crowd here in Oz that from memory does the anthracite for not too much more, so I may get a few of them.

I understand why people like Systainers. I also understand those who want to be organized. But when I see a marketing image like that my mind instantly starts to try and calculate the cost in plastic boxes and I just stop. I personally can't imagine having that much $$ invested in plastic boxes. I just have too much stuff.

Carry on all you organized ones. I will live your organized lives vicariously through your posts and pictures!

As I've accumulated more timber and hardware and crap in general, I've increasingly come to appreciate convenient and useful storage solutions. Systainers work out really well for me in this regard.

It also allows me to store tools with all their accessories in the one case, which is tremendously useful and a time saver, given how haphazard my sheds can be.

I will admit to storing accessories in the Systainers with their tools and clipping sandpaper sys's to their sander sys.

Okay, so if multiple colors isn’t “too much” which of you think is the “best” for DeWalt?

Well must admit, with setting up shop again -after a recent move- things are in different places and I have to look more than I’ve had to in the past and grabbing say..the Fein multi master in its orange sustainer or Grex nailer, ect. it is easier to see
While Im not interested in-the colored ones I can see how someone would be..and yellow (#7747) would no perfect for the Dewalts I think

Before I started to label the Systainers, I used colored latches to identify the various tool sets. Yellow was anything that was 125mm diameter centric, White was anything router centric, Black was anything Domino centric, Green was anything rectangular, think RS 2 & LS 130 and on and on it went. It was very easy to recognize various groups from across the room...and then I ran out of colors.

I was planning on storing my Dewalt tools and thinking about how to setup the dedicated systainer and decided on your middle example. I have Pex plumbing fittings stored in the black w/yellow style on the right. Lee Valley offered those in the past in that exact color scheme.

Placed my order yesterday with Systainer USA after their 20% off promotion was released. Naturally after adding a few other goodies as well.

I personally opted for a different color for the lid and the body. I wish we could order different colors in the systainer store; I have to order several systainers and reserve the other combination for shapertools stuff, shame...

There is a nice example of the middle configuration presented on systainer.works.

Gotta be agnostic, too. 😁
