James Gandolfini, best known as Tony Soprano died today at a Film Festival in Italy today. Cause of death appears to be a massive heart attack. Condolences to family and associates. Couple of quick thoughts, not in any particular order of importance.
What a mark he made as Tony Soprano; giving incredible after incredible performances in each and every episode.
I don't know what shape Gandofini was in; maybe he was in marathon shape and had an genetic abnormality that caused his heart to fail; perhaps not. More probably extra weight, stress, lack of exercise; I just don't know. But I do see it as a reminder, a wake up call to most of us to try to do a bit more exercising and watch what we eat.
About 20 years ago, my dad's beloved dog died after getting hit by a car and about a week later, we were around the table eating dinner and he mentioned just how fleeting life can be and to treasure the time we have here on earth. A few months or so later, my dad had a cardiac bybass and all looked good - until 2 weeks later he collapsed - and died immediately - most probably a blood clot to the coronary artery. How true those words were - how fleeting life can be. Enjoy and treasure each day, at least take a moment or two out of each day, hectic though you may be, and give thanks for the good things and blessings (whatever they may be) that you have.
And Mr. G, you will be missed.
