Japanese Hand Planes (In limited supply)

I have a few Japanese hand planes and they work great, here is a notice from Japan Woodworker about their "limited supply" of a very nice hand plane.

Reading this tonight suddenly makes me feel good about the money I spend on Festool.  Compared to this hand plane I think Festools are very underpriced  [smile]

I'm sure that to "someone" that hand plane is a great bargain just as I'm sure that to a whole lot of other people (including me) that Festool products are a great bargain.  It's just a matter of perspective (and cash available) since a nice $38.1 million Ferrari 250 GTO Berlinetta just sold last week [eek]

you did not buy 2? I usually buy 2 one for use and one " just in case" the amount of Festool boxes are getting harder to store.

it is how they make some veneers. The blade is likely hand forged Japanese samurai sword steel. Definitely an heirloom piece you better know how to use properly and appreciate before purchase

The hand plane I mentioned in the original post is not the "monster plane" in the video but the cost is almost as large [eek]

I have a wide Japanese wooden plane and it works great but I forgot how much I payed for it 30 years ago [embarassed]

ya i have a couple of japanese trim saws and love it...rarely use it but i dont think ill ever use a hand planer with the things i make since i already have the dewalt 13in planer.

If you want a First Aid Systainer, PM me *NOW*. I actually *STOPPED* accepting orders at noon today, but I can open it back up quick if you want one. But if you wait more than a day or so the wheels will be in motion and you'll be out of luck.

It seems like most people who were interested have now ordered one (or two - or three  [tongue]) so this is likely to be the last batch of them for a L O N G time - if not forever!
