Jig saw circle cutting

I've read some comments about the new jigsaw and the circle cutting jig.  If I understand correctly the circle cutting foot is being/has been modified.

I have 10 x 150cm diameter circles to cut this week and want to know if it is worth going out and buying the new saw "set" right now or struggling with my existing Trion and then the 1400 router on a jig.  Last time I did this it was in MDF which routed fine.  This time its 18mm ply so I am not so sure.  I cannot seem to get the trion (or my bosch) to cut close anough to the line hand held.

Any guidance greatfully received.

Hello Richard,

I've already made some experience with the Carvex Jigsaw and the circle cutting jig..  you can find the review of this Jig saw in the Review section along with some videos. I did quite some Half Circle cuts with 500mm Radius and found it to be easy and effective.. after modifying the base as explained in my Video. Be sure, you are using a saw blade with interleaved teeth for the Curve cutting (like the Trion S75/4 FSG or S105/4 FSG)

You can cut circles or arcs with the Trion.

If you have a router why not use it?  Do a search on the forum and you'll find a number of great homemade circle jigs for the 1400.

i used the trion with the 15 euro circle cutter to make 70 cm radii. i just kind of put the matal rod together with a longer one with a self-build clamping mechanism that holds pretty tight (a square aluminum "pipe" with the to rods overlapping inside and machine screws pressing them towards the bottom of the "pipe").
the circles i cut were perfect.
turn the pendulum action to zero and check if you have to use a festool k blade (black, yellow, very sturdy but only half the size of a normal blade). But with a 150cm circle, you might not need it.
