I Recently purchased a PSB 300 jigsaw and used it for the first time yesterday.  I was cutting maple plywood with it and noticed that the base plate was leaving black marks all over the ply.  Does anyone else ever have this problem?

One thing I am thinking is that because it's a new base plate, it needs broken in.  Once this happens I'm sure the black marks will stop appearing.  I don't think Festool would make a product that marks up your work.

Thank you for looking at this post and look forward to you responses.

hi dave, and welcome to the forum.
i have used my trion jigsaw for cutting a lot of ply, it never left any marks on the ply.
maybe you should contact your dealer.

regards, justin.

Nope, can't say I've seen black marks left from my Trion.

Not to insinuate anything but you are not pushing down hard on the handle are you? ;)

No I'm not.. In fact since it was the first time I used it I was blown away at just how smooth it cuts.  Just like cutting through butta!

After I made the cut I was think about how I didn't have to use that much force or pressure to make the cut.

Thanks for your responses.

The only thing I have gotten black marks from is the tool end of the hose. If you don't use a hand tube on the end of the hose and just run the rubber across the work piece, it will mark it up with black rubber.
