Really enjoyed the video & the thread on joining 2 vac hoses together; they answered 1 of 2 pressing needs I have in my shop.  The other is how to get an equally long power cord to go with the longer hose.  I have read on another site about using Hubbell male and female twist plugs - thusly modifying two plug it cords.
Are there other options?
In doing any type of modifications, is grounding compromised.
And yes, I suspect modifying or using modified plugs, warranties will most likely be voided - less of a problem than having too short a power cord.  All help is appreciated.

[member=19075]DrD[/member] The Festool 10m Plug it is $60.

A15 foot extension cord plugged into the vac and the tool cord plugged into the extension should give you the length. Here are some choices from Lowes:

14 gauge

16 gauge

velcro cord wrap to keep it with the hose.

OK, now I'm red-faced.  I'll freely admit there are many things about which I am beyond ignorant - ESPECIALLY electricity.  Anything like AC which spends half its life going one way and the other half going the other way can never get anywhere - developed that position when I was an undergrad (obviously not in EE).
Now, as to the extension cords - I thought the tool had to be grounded and that was somehow handled within the plug it.  Again I refer back to my belief in AC.  So, how is the tool grounded?
Thanks for the help.

Tools that use plugit cords are not grounded thru the cord as they are double insulated meaning that there is no possible contact between the live wiring and the operator if a fault should develop. They may be grounded for static reasons thru the hose.
